Adam R. Waldman

Founder, Chairman & President

Adam Waldman is the Founder, Chairman and President of the Endeavor Group, where he oversees all client engagements and leads the firm’s global legal, regulatory and transaction work. During the past decade, Mr. Waldman has advised on a broad range of cross-border mergers & acquisitions, divestitures and private equity investments, and has solved a myriad of complex legal and regulatory challenges on behalf of global clients.  In support of Endeavor’s social sector advisory work, Mr. Waldman was a principal architect of several ground-breaking initiatives in global development including Debt, Aids, Trade, Africa (DATA),  the Center for Global Development, Friends of the Global Fight, Malaria No More, the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, the Center for Interfaith Action and the Heroes Project. Prior to founding Endeavor, Mr. Waldman served as Senior Counselor to Assistant Attorney General Joel I. Klein at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he oversaw all corporate aspects of United States v. Microsoft and reviewed and negotiated settlement of significant mergers in the media and telecommunications sectors. Prior to his government service, Mr. Waldman was a corporate lawyer in the Washington, D.C. office of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering where he executed domestic and international mergers and acquisitions including the purchase of several professional sports teams and arenas. Mr. Waldman earned his Juris Doctor from the American University Law School, where he was Editor of the Law Review. His 1993 seminal law review article, “OTC Derivatives and Systemic Risk: Innovative Finance or the Dance into the Abyss?” accurately predicted the 2009 derivatives-led global financial crisis and prescribed many of the government’s proposed solutions.  Mr. Waldman sits on the boards of Altor Bioscience, Tyrolia Partners, Florida Beer Company, the Center for Global Development and Friends of the Global Fight. He is admitted to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

 

Mark Entwistle

Partner

Mark Entwistle is a Partner in the Endeavor Group, where he provides strategic communications counsel to Endeavor clients. Previously, Mr. Entwistle served as Press Secretary and Director of Communications for then Prime Minister the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney.  In that position he was responsible directly for all aspects of the Prime Minister's relations with the media and the public communication and marketing of the policies of the Canadian federal government on all issues and across the full range of government departments and agencies.  He also served as Deputy Press Secretary responsible for foreign policy in the Prime Minister’s Office, and as Media Spokesperson for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs.  Mr. Entwistle served as Ambassador of Canada to Cuba for four years from 1993-1997, responsible for the historically sensitive relationship with Fidel Castro's Cuba. He served for sixteen years from 1981-1997 in the Canadian diplomatic service, including assignments at the Canadian Embassies in Tel Aviv, Israel (1982-1985) and Moscow (1986-1989). He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa in 1979 and his Masters Degree in History from the University of Toronto in 1981. He speaks four languages fluently: English, French, Spanish and Russian.  Mr. Entwistle is a Fellow of the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute, Director of the Canadian Urban Institute, and Executive Director of the Ottawa Parliamentary Forum. He also serves on the Board of Directors of YM Biosciences Inc. and the Coral Capital Group.

 

Ashley Allen

Partner

Ashley Allen is a Partner in the Endeavor Group, where she leads the firm's strategic planning activities and manages work in the arenas of national and international policy advocacy, public/private partnerships and measurement and evaluation (M&E).  She has devised innovative strategies and advocacy plans for major initiatives in education reform, micro-finance, global development, and global health. Recently, Ms. Allen was involved in successful efforts related to the Corporation for National Service Social Innovation Fund (SIF) and the Department of Education’s Investing in Education (i3) initiative.  Prior to joining Endeavor, Ms. Allen was a Principal in Women's Growth Capital Fund, the first SBIC-backed public/private venture fund formed to invest in women-owned businesses.  Previously she was a Vice President with Quarterdeck Investment Partners (now Jeffries/Quarterdeck, LLC), where she managed mergers and acquisitions in the global aerospace and defense sectors. She was also a principal in Quarterdeck Equity Partners, an affiliated merchant banking firm. Ms. Allen was a member of Coopers & Lybrand's international finance group, where she facilitated international transactions for U.S. and European clients. She began her career as an Analyst with Alex. Brown & Sons (now Deutsche Bank.) Ms. Allen graduated with honors from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, and completed a certificate program in International Diplomacy from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, with distinction, from the University of Colorado.  She presently serves on the boards of the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation and the Shakespeare Theatre Company at the Harman Center for the Arts, as well as on the Executive Committee of the Horace Mann PTA, a public school in Washington, DC.

 

Carolyn Ince Mansfield

Partner

Carolyn Ince Mansfield is a Partner in the Endeavor Group, where she provides strategic, legal and advocacy counsel to clients and is the Managing Partner of Endeavor’s legal practice.  Ms. Mansfield’s work encompasses the negotiation of cross-border strategic partnerships and business relationships, and advice on corporate and non-profit governance, board development, and regulatory compliance. She has been instrumental in helping Endeavor clients to access federal funding for clean technology projects, and has helped several clients to navigate complex international regulatory challenges. Prior to joining Endeavor, Ms. Mansfield practiced law with Boston-based Dwyer & Collora LLP where she represented individual and corporate clients in complex civil and criminal litigation with an emphasis on white collar criminal cases and employment and business disputes. Previously she served as Assistant District Attorney and Special Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts. Ms. Mansfield earned her Masters of Studies in Environmental Law and Policy, cum laude, and a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Santa Clara University, including study at the London School of Economics in London, England. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.

 

Shaina Amaya

Vice President

Shaina Amaya is a Vice President with the Endeavor Group, where she serves as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Amaya provides firm-wide operations support, including management of  financial and business planning activities, oversight of recruiting and human resources operations, and support of all risk management and legal activities.  She also manages Endeavor’s proprietary intellectual capital and ensures the sharing of best practices across the firm’s multi-disciplinary practice groups.  Prior to joining Endeavor, Ms. Amaya was an Associate with Wendt Advertising where she supported agency-wide project management and client account management.  She began her career as an Associate at Unitus, a leading microfinance firm, where she supported the organization’s marketing and communications efforts.  At Unitus, Ms. Amaya was responsible for brand development, communication strategies, marketing products and coordination of marketing programs with international partners.  She received a Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University in Spanish and Latin American Studies.  Ms. Amaya has travelled extensively in Latin America and speaks fluent Spanish.

 

Brian White

Vice President

Brian White is a Vice President in the legal practice of the Endeavor Group.  He provides legal, strategic, policy, advocacy, and project management support to the firm’s clients.  Prior to joining Endeavor, Mr. White practiced law in the New York office of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, representing U.S. and foreign clients in a range of criminal, civil, and arbitration proceedings as well as in regulatory matters.  He has advised clients on U.S. sanctions laws and compliance, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FDA’s generic drug approval procedures, employment discrimination litigation, and commercial disputes.  Previously, he worked for the International Rescue Committee in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, where he designed and managed programs to assist and protect internally displaced persons, monitored conditions for returning refugees, and trained government and humanitarian staff in human rights protection.  He also worked in the Washington, DC office of the International Medical Corps, coordinating support for tsunami relief activities in Sri Lanka and Indonesia, assistance to refugees in Pakistan and internally displaced persons in Chechnya, and development programs in Afghanistan and Azerbaijan.  Mr. White earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia.

 

Callan Walsh

Senior Associate

Callan Walsh is a Senior Associate with the Endeavor Group, where she supports a range of client projects in the private and philanthropic sectors with a focus on policy, advocacy and education reform. At Endeavor, Ms. Walsh has provided landscape analysis and strategic planning support for major initiatives in global development, education reform and protection of refugees and displaced persons, and has managed the implementation of new initiatives in Africa, the Middle East, Haiti and the U.S.  Prior to joining Endeavor, Ms. Walsh supported tax compliance and audit functions for UBS Investment Bank. She served as a Congressional Intern for Connecticut Congressman Christopher Shays, and was selected to serve as one of two student members of the Connecticut State Board of Education. In that role she represented the state's student population on matters concerning education reform in Connecticut. Ms. Walsh graduated from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service with a major in culture and politics and a certificate in African Studies. She speaks fluent Spanish, intermediate Swahili and basic Italian. 

 

Eric Wind

Senior Analyst

Eric Wind is a Senior Analyst with the Endeavor Group, where he supports a range of client projects, with a focus on legislative and regulatory affairs.  Prior to joining Endeavor, Mr. Wind worked as an intelligence analyst with the Department of Defense and U.S. Intelligence Community. He also provided project support and assistance for the Office of the President of Georgetown University.  His extensive research background includes policy research and constituent communications for Wisconsin Congressman Thomas Petri and research support for Georgetown University’s Berkley Center, Mortara Center for International Studies and the Persian Studies department. Mr. Wind graduated with honors from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service with a major in international politics, receiving the prestigious Dean’s Citation in recognition for outstanding contributions to the school. He speaks fluent Spanish, advanced Persian and basic Japanese.

 

Anina von Wachtel

Development Associate

Anina von Wachtel is a Development Associate with the Endeavor Group where she provides in-country oversight and management of client projects.  Most recently, Ms. Von Wachtel has provided management and oversight for Shikamana School, a primary school and community development project in the coastal district of Kwale, Kenya.  The school serves as a community-based model for sustainable development in Kwale. It provides education, meals, medical care and after-school programming for the community’s orphans and vulnerable children, and serves as a focal point for community health interventions for its vulnerable families.  Anina has a Master's Degree in Communication & Advertising from the 'Bayerische Akademie fuer Werbung' (BAW), Munich, Germany, and holds a postgraduate diploma in international marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), London, UK. She speaks fluent German and adequate Swahili and has traveled extensively in Africa, Australia and South East Asia.

Bruce Babbitt

Chairman and President, Raintree Ventures

Bruce Babbitt served as United States Secretary of the Interior from 1993 to 2001, as Governor of Arizona from 1978 to 1987 and as Attorney General of Arizona from 1975 to 1978. He currently serves as President of the investment firm, Raintree Ventures and as a Director Emeritus of the World Wildlife Fund. As Governor of Arizona, Babbitt brought environmental and resource management to the forefront in Arizona. He negotiated and steered to passage the Arizona Groundwater Management Act of 1980, which remains the most comprehensive water regulatory system in the nation. He was also responsible for creation of the Arizona Department of Water Resources and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and a major expansion of the state park system. Appointed Secretary of the Interior by President Clinton in 1993, Babbitt served for eight years, during which he led in the creation of the forest plan in the Pacific Northwest, restoration of the Florida Everglades, passage of the California Desert Protection Act, and legislation for the National Wildlife Refuge system. Babbitt resides in Washington, DC with his wife, Hattie with whom he has two children.

 

Richard C. Blum

Chairman, Blum Capital; Co-Chairman, Texas Pacific Group

Dick Blum is Chairman and President of Blum Capital Partners, L.P., and is Co-Chairman of TPG Capital and Co-Founder of Newbridge Capital (now part of TPG Capital). He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of CB Richard Ellis Group, Inc., and is a director of Fairmont Raffles Holding International, Current Media, L.L.C and Myer Pty Ltd. Mr. Blum is Founder and Chairman of the American Himalayan Foundation (AHF), and is Honorary Consul to Mongolia and the Kingdom of Nepal. In 2006, with a $15M grant from Mr. Blum, the Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California, Berkeley was established. He also founded the Global Economy and Development Center at The Brookings Institution and the Blum-Brookings Conference. Mr. Blum is member of the University of California Board of Regents, and Trustee and a member of the Executive Committee of The Carter Center, founded by former President Jimmy Carter. He currently serves on the boards of The World Wildlife Fund, The Wilderness Society, The Glide Foundation, The California Academy of Sciences and The American Cancer Foundation. Mr. Blum earned both his B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. He received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of San Francisco's McLaren College of Business in 2006. Mr. Blum, who is married to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, has four daughters and six grandchildren. 

 

David G. Bradley

Chairman, Atlantic Media Company

David G. Bradley is chairman of Atlantic Media Company, whose holdings include the Atlantic, National Journal, Congress Daily, Government Executive, and The Hotline.  At the age of 26, he launched his first company, the Advisory Board Company, a for-profit think tank ultimately serving 4,000 corporations, financial institutions, and medical centers around the world.  The Advisory Board company and its sister enterprise, the Corporate Executive Board, today are public companies listed on NASDAQ.  Mr. Bradley sold his ownership in the two companies soon after their public listing.  During his early 20s, he was a Fulbright Scholar in the Philippines. Mr. Bradley graduated from Swarthmore College and holds a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. He is based in Washington, DC.

 

Ed Mathias

Managing Director, The Carlyle Group

Ed Mathias is a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Mathias was instrumental in the founding of The Carlyle Group and assisted in raising the firm's initial capital. Now focused on venture capital activities, he serves as a member of the Investment Committees for Carlyle's venture funds in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Carlyle in January 1994, Mr. Mathias was a member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors of T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. Mr. Mathias is also active with numerous venture capital limited partnerships and is a frequent investor in early-stage, private companies. Mr. Mathias holds a Master's in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he presently serves as a Trustee. In addition to other activities, he is a member of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute investment advisory committee, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trustees' Council of the National Gallery of Art.

 

Mario Morino

Chairman, Venture Philanthropy Partners

Mario Morino is Co-Founder and Chairman of Venture Philanthropy Partners and Chairman of the Morino Institute. In the early 1970s, Mario co-founded and helped build the Legent Corporation, a software and services firm that became a market leader and one of the industry's 10 largest firms by the early 1990s. He retired from the private sector in 1992 and, since then, his focus has been almost exclusively in the nonprofit sector. Mario founded the Morino Institute in 1994 to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship, advance a more effective philanthropy, close social divides, and understand the relationship and impact of the Internet on our society. In 2000, Mario co-founded Venture Philanthropy Partners as a philanthropic investment organization that concentrates investments of money, expertise, and contacts to improve the lives and boost the opportunities of children of low-income families in the National Capital Region. Mr. Morino is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of General Atlantic Partners LLC, and on the board of ObjectVideo. He serves on the board of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, is honorary Trustee of The Brookings Institute, and Emeritus Trustee of Case Western Reserve University. He is a special advisor to Echoing Green, a member of the PEACE X PEACE advisory council; a member of the Advisory Board for the Center for Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) of the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.

 

Timothy P. Shriver

Chairman, Special Olympics, Inc.

Dr. Tim Shriver is the Chairman of Special Olympics, Inc. In this capacity, he serves more than 2.25 million Special Olympics athletes and their families in over 160 countries, and has helped transform Special Olympics into a movement that focuses on acceptance, inclusion and respect for individuals with intellectual disabilities in all corners of the globe. Within his nine years as Chair, he has overseen a dramatic expansion of the organization, extending programs to developing and war-torn countries including Afghanistan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iraq, Macedonia, and Serbia. He also has created new initiatives to enhance the lives of millions with intellectual disabilities, such as the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes® and the Special Olympics Unified Sports®. Dr. Shriver earned his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, a Master's Degree in Religion and Religious Education from Catholic University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Connecticut. He currently serves on the Board of the Education Commission of the States' Compact for Learning and Citizenship, chairs the Board of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
