Today, the Center for Global Development is widely recognized as the leading think tank on development issues. CGD conducts research on a wide range of topics related to how the policies of rich countries impact people in the developing world including aid effectiveness, education, environment, globalization, health, migration, and trade. CGD's analysis is channeled into practical policy proposals that help to shape policy decisions in Washington and around the world. The Center's Commitment to Development Index has become a valuable tool for discussion not only of aid, debt and trade, but of environmental, security and immigration policies. Co-Founders Ed Scott, Nancy Birdsall and Fred Bergsten are joined on the CGD board by former Secretaries of the Treasury, former heads of state, agencies and multi-lateral institutions, leading development experts and global business leaders.
