Cher is bringing valuable new financial and management resources to the impoverished Coast Province of Kenya.
The Shikamana School in Kenya is an initiative of the Cher Charitable Foundation. Shikamana is positioned to become a cornerstone of sustainable development in Kenya that is replicable across the continent. The school provides a community-based organization model for free education, health care, nutritional support and psycho-social development to children in Ukunda and their caregivers who otherwise would not have access to these services. Endeavor is managing Cher's effort to secure new land and expanded space for Shikamana, to increase the nutrition, medical care and related health status of students, and to develop community-level preventative health and leadership programs. As a result of Cher's involvement, the health and well-being of Shikamana students and the surrounding community have improved dramatically, providing a replicable model for sustainable development in the region.
