The Honorable Belinda Stronach visits Liberia to advocate for increased funding of economic development initiatives.

With a unique perspective on the confluence of business, politics and philanthropy, Belinda Stronach is working to align the interests of all three spheres behind the challenge of African development. Recently Ms. Stronach, Executive Vice-Chairman of Magna International Inc. and Canadian Member of Parliament, traveled to post-war Liberia to explore opportunities to help strengthen the country's political and economic systems. In extended meetings with Liberian President Johnson-Sirleaf and other senior government officials, as well as site visits to local communities, Ms. Stronach discussed strategies for building the capacity of local ministries and developing the infrastructure to facilitate economic growth. This important fact-finding mission will inform Ms. Stronach's advocacy work and will form the basis for a new Liberian economic development effort under the auspices of the Belinda Stronach Foundation.
